　上田城から徒歩約10分にある。江戸時代の面影が残る町並みで、旧北国街道沿いの通りです。食事処、カフェ、酒屋、ベーカリー、雑貨屋などの店舗が軒を連ねている。
　また、柳の木が多かったこの通りは、昔は旅籠屋や商家が軒を連ね、呉服屋だけでも25軒あったといいます。
